One Journey Ends, and Six More Begin

As of December 18, 2023, Fire Marshal Alex Onishenko has officially retired. During the December commission meeting, Alex was recognized by family and friends for his 35 years in the fire service, his last nine serving East Manatee Fire Rescue. Among other things, Alex was known for his great sense of humor, strong work ethic, and his ability to create a positive atmosphere wherever he went. Alex played a pivotal role at East Manatee Fire Rescue during his tenure and helped the department keep up with the demands of an ever-growing district. Alex will be missed by all, but we wish him the best in retirement. Congratulations Alex!!

Following the retirement ceremony, six new personnel were sworn in as East Manatee Fire Rescue’s newest firefighters. We would like to welcome Aaron Cissell, Blake Hentges, Diana Zacher, Evan Taylor, Payton Jenkins, and Timothy Pierce to the East Manatee family.

Manatee County Extends Burn Ban

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (June 3, 2024) – Due to the continued hot and dry weather, the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has voted to impose a ban on all outdoor burning and the use and discharge of fireworks and sparklers in the county, effective immediately.
